Opera mobile browser on my k750i
Usable mobile internet at last. Before today, internet access from my mobile has consisted of long periods spent studying a low-res hourglass whilst the phone browser loaded pages. Even going back in the browser took an age.
This morning I installed the
opera mobile browser. Currently this java application is on trial in Norway, but a .jad file (Java Application Descriptor) is available at
blumonkey [Rt-click and save]. The .jad file links to the java application - copy it to your phone then select it to download and install the application.
It's installed on the k750i as follows:
Copy the .jad file to MediaFiles/Other on the phone memory card using the k750i sync/charge cable.
I'm sure you could use bluetooth or just surf to it using the default k750i browser - if you can bear it - believe me it'll be the last time you use it!
Disconnect the phone from Windows to ensure the file is saved to the memory card.
Select Opera.jad in the File Manager/Other folder, and then select install
Select the install folder.
I selected Applications.
Now the browser is run from the FileManager/Application folder. It's in Norwegian, but can be changed to English
(thanks guys):
Select Meny/verktøy/instillinger
Change "språk" to English.
This is the best mobile browser I've used. It looks good, but more importantly it's fast. Very fast. The experience was similar to the move from 56K dialup to half-meg broadband. So far I've visited this blog, and a friend's flickr page - both worked really well. Well done Opera.
