Apple - iTunes
Apple's launched
iTunes Music Store - Europe at last. Tracks are priced from 79p, albums from £7.99. It could've been lower, but at least they didn't just turn 99 cents into 99 pence.
I'd still rather buy the album so I can listen to it on my hifi, but it's a great way of picking up one-offs and curious oddities.
Time will tell exactly how much stuff's on there - I did read yesterday that there were problems agreeing a deal with some of the UK independents - it'd be a shame to miss out on *exactly* the sort of music that I'd be most tempted to try a track at a time.
I've already bought my wife a voucher to get her started/control her spending ;)
The process was almost too easy:
enter value, recipient's email address, message etc.
login using apple id
done, the recipient receives a voucher in their inbox
As Apple have my payment details already the whole process was nearly immediate.
Purchasing a track myself was equally easy. I did have the option to disable the 'do you want to buy this?' warning that would have provided an Amazon-style one-click purchase - but mindful of my credit card I decided to keep it as a kind of conscience dialog.
There's audio books too, iMix (publish playlists on iTunes for others), interviews, to name just a few things worth exploring.
However, as I'm still at work, I'd best leave that for later...
I'd recommend taking a look at iTunes Music Store - Europe today.
